Every January the internet fills up with "marketing trends" posts, and by March most of them are forgotten. This list is different โ it's built from what actually worked for our clients across Sri Lanka and the region this year, measured in enquiries and revenue, not likes.
Start with the boring foundations
Before any clever campaign, the businesses that grew fastest fixed three unglamorous things: a fast mobile website, a complete Google Business profile, and a WhatsApp number that actually gets answered. Ads amplify what you have โ if the foundation leaks, you're paying to fill a bucket with a hole in it.
Marketing doesn't fail because the idea was bad โ it fails because the follow-up was slow.
The strategies that moved the needle
- WhatsApp-first funnels โ every ad, post and page ends in a one-tap chat, not a form.
- Local search domination โ reviews, photos and posts on your Google profile every week.
- Short-form video with a hook in the first 2 seconds โ more on that below.
- Email to past customers โ the cheapest revenue you'll ever earn.
- One clear offer per campaign โ "everything we do" ads sell nothing.
Measure replies, not reach
Reach is a vanity metric. The number that predicts revenue is conversations started โ which is why we wire every campaign to WhatsApp and count chats, quotes and bookings. When you optimise for replies, the content gets better on its own.
